I know we’re a podcast but we also offer training courses about home cinema and audio calibration, we’ve done four sessions so far and they seem popular.
Email training@homecinemadesign.co.uk if you’re interested.
Level 1 – Introduction to calibration using RoomEQ Wizard
For medium experienced home cinema installers – it’s ideal if you’ve taken the RP22 or HAA L1 training already. We give you the basics of RoomEQ Wizard, measuring a room with microphones, and we calibrate a 2.2 system.
Once you can get two speakers and subs sounding good and in time, you should be able to apply that knowledge to more channels in a cinema system.
Price is £375 + VAT, and usually at Delli Towers near Stafford.
If you’d like to know more about this course, Episode 18 ‘The Magic Wand’ with star pupil Tom Lanham covers it all nicely.
Level 2 – Advanced audio calibration
This is a work in progress, not least we’ve both become super busy with our day jobs designing and installing the cinemas, and our techniques evolve as we learn stuff.
We worked out we should split this up into separate sub-courses for different elements, each taking one or two days. It’s hard enough taking several away for ISE – let alone teaching or attending a calibration course.
The first will probably be about bass, because that has the biggest impact on how a system feels.
Attendees will need to have completed our introduction course, or persuade us they’re adept with REW already – send us your graphs!
More details when we know them. Hurry up Tom.
